Exact fields vary. The search expressly includes only inmates currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. Its information is updated on working days and is at least 24 hours old.

A match can confirm current state imprisonment. A no-result cannot confirm completed release. It can mean the person left TDCJ, remains only in a county jail, has not completed state intake, moved outside the system, was entered under different spelling or identifiers, or does not match the search. Historical confirmation uses a different route.

Request Historical Release and Discharge Information

For an ordinary information inquiry about a former TDCJ prisoner, use the TDCJ inmate-information email route. Provide full name and the seven-digit TDCJ number. Without the number, provide exact date of birth or approximate age and county of conviction. Ask specifically for incarceration history, actual release or discharge date, release type, and any available supervision or discharge status.
